Andy Gordon has run Aberdeen Massage Therapies from Skene Business Centres since 2019, specialising in bespoke treatments, fixing current and historic muscle issues. He’s worked with footballer, golfers and even pop stars.
“I’m a results based business, with each session tailored to each client,' says Andy. 'Many people use massage as a last resort, after something goes wrong or hurts, whereas I encourage it to be viewed as a forefront service as part of your lifestyle. I initially worked from home but moving to Queen’s Gardens allows me to keep my personal and professional life separate. This isn’t a stressful business, but my client list is growing so I appreciate some separation. Secondly, not everyone is confident going to someone’s house for massage therapy but this venue is smart and professional."
Andy’s therapy combines skills learned through experience in sales, business development, continental seam butchery and as a personal trainer.
“I was looking for serviced office space on an all inclusive package, so I had no other overheads to consider. Each month I get one complete bill so it’s hassle free. SBC was recommended to me by word of mouth. When I arrived I got a warm welcome from Maeghan the Director of SBC, and that gave me confidence. I was shown round the three business centres, received a thorough tour and was talked through all the options. I also ended up renting a flat from Skene Investments, a sister company in Aberdeen too.'
'At Queen’s Gardens I appreciate the ‘meet and greet’ my clients receive at reception, it’s a warm welcome, and I wish to project quality when it comes to my business. When my clients arrive here they feel like they’re in the right place. They also appreciate the parking and smart waiting area.’
'I like a room empty, so when I moved in I just kept the filing cabinet that was here. The rest of the furniture and decorations are my own. It’s a 120 sq ft 2-desk room, with a lovely high ceiling and excellent lighting. In terms of communal facilities, I regularly paddle-board before work so I often use the shower room to freshen up. I prep meals in the kitchen and eat in the Business Lounge, which allows me to socialise and keeps my room clean."
Andy has recently invested in a G8 Muscle Vibration Therapy machine for tight muscle release, historic muscle and joint stiffness, and improved circulation. Each investment, naturally, takes up more room.
"Moving forward I want more space. This would allow me to do more personal training demonstrations (to back up the massage work), and I’m keen on offering two tables, one static, and one fully operational electric table. Ultimately I’ve established myself here. You get your name out there and grow your reputation offering a consistent and comfortable setting for clients. It’s all about consistency, convenience and quality."
