Room Size: 212 sqft

Susan Evans at Thank Evans Childcare Agency has run her childcare business since 2000, operating out of Skene Business Centres' Rubislaw Den North property since 2013. Thank Evans currently offers childcare at home, support childcare and emergency childcare as well as nursery support. While Evans’ bank of eighteen nannies work in the field, SBC is the management hub where the organisation and planning takes place, alongside face-to-face interviews with new recruits.

“I chose SBC due to its central location, a postcode that satisfies my customer base, an all-inclusive bill and the easy parking’, says Susan. ‘I knew about the other SBC properties in Rosemount and Queen's Gardens but I drive a large company van and the parking at Rubislaw Den North gives me the space I need to manoeuvre. I also looked at other office rental companies, some were more modern but SBC brought together the essential combination of factors I was looking for.”

Susan retained the carpets, whiteboard and lighting in her 212 square foot room, providing her own modern office furniture and cabinets, plus she's personalised the space with the occasional potted plant and teddy bear.

“We’ve moved around the building as the company has changed, shrinking or exploding,’ continues Susan. ‘This is our fourth office in Rubislaw. I had three office staff at the beginning, this has switched to two, then one, and we’re currently a team of 2.5. Each time I’ve approached the SBC team about switching office they’ve been very easy to deal with, and it’s happened pretty soon after I’ve put in the initial request, so that’s been really helpful’.

‘I appreciate receiving one fixed bill at the end of each month. The issue I’d raise is the removal of the onsite receptionist replaced with a remote service.”

Susan uses some of the communal facilities available, from the kitchen to the toilets and parking, and knows that when potential staff arrive for their face to face interviews they get a positive first impression.

“Interviewees arrive somewhere safe, professional and in a nice area. We’re quite comfortable here and the plan is simply to carry on as we are."
